General Questions

Why do I suddenly no longer get a dialling tone?

There may be a fault in the electronics of your phone. Please disconnect the device from all power sources and after a few minutes connect the power again. If this doesn't solve the problem, please contact your telephone network provider's service hotline and have the connection checked out using their remote diagnosis facility. Calls to the provider's service hotline are normally free.

Why is the caller ID (CLIP) function not working?

The caller ID function is an optional service offered by your telephone network provider. Please contact your telephone network provider and ask whether caller ID has been activated for your telephone line.

If your phone is connected to a telephone system or switchboard or to a splitter (an analog converter), please check whether this system/switchboard/splitter forwards the caller’s number to your phone. In cases of doubt please check the caller ID (CLIP) function of your phone on a different telephone line on which caller ID is known to be activated.

Why does the caller ID (CLIP) function no longer work?

There may be a fault in the electronics. Please disconnect the device from all power sources (hardware reset) and after a few minutes connect the power again. If this doesn't solve the problem, please contact the network provider's service hotline and ask whether caller ID is still activated for your telephone line.

Why is the display no longer active?

Is the device connected to the mains? Please check the mains connection and the batteries.

Why is it no longer possible to establish a connection between the handset and the base station?

There may be a fault in the electronics. Please disconnect the device from all power sources and after a few minutes connect the power again. If this doesn't solve the problem, please re-register the handset with the base station as described in the user manual.

Why does nothing happen when I press the buttons?

If your phone supports this function, please deactivate the key lock function as described in the user manual.

Is it hearing aid compatible?

All amplicomms PowerTel telephones are equipped with a T-coil located in the receiver. This enables hearing aid users to make interference-free phone calls.

Can I register additional handsets to my amplicomms PowerTel telephone?

Additional handsets can be added to all cordless amplicomms PowerTel telephones. Please use the amplicomms PowerTel 701 expansion set. This model is a separate handset with a charger that is connected to the power supply to charge the handset. Instructions on how to register the new handset to the existing base can be found in the enclosed manual.

Registering the amplicomms PowerTel 701 to a corded combination is only possible if you have one of the following models: amplicomms PowerTel 880 and amplicomms PowerTel 980.

Questions on amplicomms GSM mobile phones

"Emergency calls only" is displayed on my mobile phone.

Please check whether the SIM card has been activated; to do this either contact your network provider or check whether your SIM card works in a different mobile phone.

“Texting not possible“ is displayed on my mobile phone.

Please configure the MSC number as described in the user manual or contact your network provider.

The display of my amplicomms PowerTel M4000 / M6000 shows the message "very loud" and a yellow warning triangle.

This means that the receiver volume is set to its highest volume.

amplicomms PowerTel M 6000:
To reduce the receiver volume, please use the volume control on the right-hand side of the telephone during a call.

amplicomms PowerTel M 4000:
To reduce the receiver volume, please use the down arrow on the telephone during a call; press the minus key several times.

Phones with Alarm Transmitters

Why is the alarm call not triggered?

Please check whether a fully charged battery is inserted in the transmitter. Have you stored the number to be called in an emergency in your phone? If not, please proceed as described in the user manual.

Why aren’t the amplifier, the hands-free function or the display lighting working?

Please make sure that fully charged batteries are fitted in the device, or that it is connected to a plugged-in mains adapter.

Can I use multiple alarm devices with my amplicomms PowerTel telephone?

Additional alarm devices may be used with the PowerTel 50 Alarm Plus and the amplicomms PowerTel 980. For the amplicomms PowerTel 980 we offer the amplicomms PT 601 model.

This device is a separate vibrating alarm device with charging station. Up to five alarm devices may be registered. Additional alarm devices for the amplicomms PowerTel 50 Alarm Plus can be ordered from our service centre.
